MY DIET
My diet is very simple. I eat only from five food groups. Fruits, Vegetables, Nuts, Beans and Grains. I do not eat anything made FROM any of the foods in these food groups. I eat the fruits and nuts uncooked. I cook some of the vegetables sometimes and sometimes eat them uncooked. I cook the beans and grains as little as possible so as to destroy the least amount of nutrients.
I have eliminated all animal products and everything with animal products in them such as bread. I do not eat flour of any kind, wheat, corn, or anything which has been processed or refined from its original form in nature. . I do not eat any beef, pork, lamb or goat. I do not eat any fowl, such as Turkey, Chicken, Quail, Pigeon, or any other thing with wings or feathers. I do not eat anything with a shell such as clams or oysters or shrimp or lobster or mollusks. I do not eat venison or buffalo. I do not eat anything with hair, scales, eyes, ears, feet, a mouth, teeth, hooves or a tail. This may all seem a bit much, but I am constantly surprised by the ridiculous questions I get. I do not eat anything even remotely connected with any of the above, such as eggs or milk or yogurt or cheese or whey or butter or cream. I do not eat anything which can move from point a to point b under it's own power.
The only corn I eat is on the cob.
I consider anything which grows in the earth and anything which came from something that grew in the earth (a plant) a vegetable. I am constantly surprised by questions like "Can I eat potatoes?" I eat all manner of vegetables, fruits, nuts and grains.
I make a drink in large quantities, so that I do not have to be making it up all the time. I make several quarts and freeze them in one quart containers. I make it to a fairly thick consistency almost a pudding. I drink two glasses every day. It is the first thing I eat every day. After drinking that I am free to eat as much of anything I want from the following beans, grains, nuts and fruits for the remainder of the day.
I use a commercial quality blender. You can order one from:

The base ingredients are always water, watermelon, collard greens, mustard greens or spinach or any combination of the three, carrots with tops, red, green and yellow bell peppers, yams and broccoli with stems, beets with tops, and sometimes tomatoes. All ingredients are raw. There is nothing particularly magic about this combo other than it is the most nutritious powerhouse I could come up with, covering all the bases. You can add or substitute any vegetables you want to my formula.
I call this drink my "Tonic". Merriam -Webster Dictionary lists as one of the definitions of "Tonic" "increasing or restoring general health and well being". And that perfectly describes its purpose , character and taste. I prefer it hot. It is perfect for detox and cleansing programs.
I cook all types of beans and sometimes mix them up. For my grains I buy Oat Groats, Quinoa, Barley and Lentils.
Although I do not season anything, I have no problem with seasonings as long as they are whole herbs and not processed. You can season with onion, garlic, fresh tomatoes, celery, parsley, rosemary, etc. No salt or sugar ever, on anything.
For my TV snack I eat all variety of nuts and fruits.
When I want to lose fat and hold my muscle I drink more of the drink and eat less beans and grains. When I want to grow muscle without gaining fat I do more beans and grains and less drink. The nuts and fruit remain pretty constant. As long as you eat only what is on this page you can eat all you want. I have never in my life weighed, measured or counted anything.
I do not have any set number of meals per day. I eat whatever I want whenever I want and only when I am hungry. Most days I only have one of what you might consider a "meal" and that could be a bowl of soup. Other days I may have two "meals", but never more than that. Not because I limit myself but because I never get hungry for more than two. I have my vit-min supplements, Creatine and Glutamine supplements and four prunes around 5 am and then nothing until around 2, 3 pm and snacks of fruit and nuts around 6,7. But this can vary greatly. There are days I "graze" and days I eat nothing at all.
Try to learn your body's signals and respond to them with whole, natural foods. When the body wants sugars, give it fruits. When it wants fats, give it nuts. Comfort food can be grains and beans and microwaved yams and potatoes. Microwave yams and potatoes for 4 or 5 minutes on one side (depending on size) and turn it over for 4 or 5 on the other. Microwave spinach or Collard Greens 2 or 3 minutes or until they wilt.
I rarely drink water, only because I rarely get thirsty. Maybe once a week or 10 days I have a glass of water. I think that is from three reasons, first the absence of added salt and sugar, two, most of what I eat includes a sufficient amount of liquids, and three the lack of a need to digest refined and processed products.
If you feel the need for additional protein, you might consider hemp seeds. They can be found at; http://nutiva.com/products/0_protein.php
